2024 marks the 50th anniversary of our annual Gladbeck exchange and we want to hear from all alumni who participated in the exchange! Since 1974, the Latymer School has been running an exchange programme with Heisenberg Gymnasium in our Enfield Twin Town of Gladbeck, Germany. A delegation from Latymer was part of the first official Enfield visit to Germany in 1973, and we have been arranging annual exchanges between students and their families with German partners in Gladbeck every year since 1974, with the exception of the Covid lockdowns. It is incredibly rare to have such a long running continuous school exchange, and we are very excited and proud to be celebrating our 50-year anniversary this year. We very much see it as a strength of our Languages Department to be fostering close relationships with our European partners. Our trips are keeping language learning alive and they support students in having an international outlook. If you have been involved in the exchange in any capacity, we want you to share any memories you have from the programme! Have you taken part in the Gladbeck Exchange as a student? Have you hosted a teacher from Heisenberg, or been involved in the programme here in London? Are you still in touch with someone in Gladbeck? Do you have old photos from the exchange? We would absolutely love to hear from you, whether that be photos or written memories from your time participating in the exchange. Please email these to us at alumni@latymer.co.uk. We look forward to hearing about all your Gladbeck experiences! |
