On Friday 6th February, the school held its much-anticipated annual Careers Fair. The event featured participation from 192 Year 10 students and over 170 Sixth Form students, who received expert advice from over 40 speakers working at the forefront of a wide range of sectors, including medicine, civil service, law and television. The fair couldn't be the huge success it is without the invaluable contribution of so many former students. The event was extremely well received by the 350 plus students, who were offered a valuable opportunity to gain insight and clarity into industries and professions of interest, opening their mind to the wide range of possibilities that are available to them. This is something that particularly resonated with Year 12 student Ismael, who commented "The talks at the Careers Fair were informative and enriching. In particular, it was extremely beneficial to hear from a top civil servant, Nick Dean. His lived experience and insights into different industries made him a compelling speaker. I also really enjoyed hearing all the different and often non-linear career paths the speakers took. Lastly, the variety was really refreshing as each speaker had something unique to offer." Nick Dean, class of 1994, also spoke of his positive experience of the da. "I found the event a really valuable way of connecting with the hopes (and fears) of the students in a way simply not possible in the day job. It's also a great way to offer an insight into real life beyond the school gates. I got a lot of satisfaction helping to inspire and guide the students towards rewarding careers in my sector." Several alumni echoed this sentiment, expressing their enjoyment of the event and sense of reward fostered by speaking to our students:
Following the event, some of our alumni were able to enjoy a guided tour of the school, marvelling at some of the new facilities and expansions in the school, whilst some of the more enduring characteristics of Latymer allowed many to reminisce of cherished school memories. The Latymer School is incredibly fortunate to be able to call on such a plethora of talented and enthusiastic alumni, who generously gave their time to give back to our current students, offering them an exciting glimpse into the range of prospects that awaits them in the working world. We would like to offer a huge thanks to all our alumni, current & former parents and school supporters who donated their time and expertise to speak on the day: Indrajit Advani (class of 1981, 1974 joiner), Stephen Athanasiou (class of 2006), Billy Bartram (class of 2006), Ian Bates, Gurpreet Bhatti, Eme Brasnett (class of 1996), Dominic Bray, Olivia Carter, Bhavisha Chotai, Gautam Datta (class of 2021), Nick Dean (class of 1994), Shumontha Dev, Brahman Dharmarajah (class of 2000), Sapna Divani (class of 2012), Jacqueline Dobreva-Skevington (class of 2021), Sarah Dowling, Naomi Frederick, Chris Gale, Amory González Juárez, Arun Gulati (class of 2006), Tom Hudson, Mike Jordanou, Georgeena Jose (class of 2019), Maya Kirlew (class of 2019), KPMG UK, Izaac Mammadov (class of 2019), Callum McCarthy (class of 2015), Lucy Molloy (class of 2011), Ivar Morganti (class of 2020), Annakan Navaratnam (class of 2003), Simon Ogden (class of 1980, 1973 joiner), Bhavisha Patel, Brian Pope (class of 1975, 1968 joiner), Richard Quintian (class of 2008), David Raedeker, Ravi Sawhney (class of 1997), Jayesh Shah (class of 2004), Olga Small, Amy Smith (class of 1999), Matt Sykes, Kris Yi and Sof Yiannakas (class of 2005).
