Jim Harrison (class of 1985, 1978 joiner) and current Head of Music at Latymer, is running the Paris Marathon on 13th April, in aid of Samaritans. Jim tells us about his fundraising efforts so far: "In the last 10 years or so I've completed about a dozen half marathons for charity, as well as the London Marathon in 2021. This time I'm having a go at the Paris Marathon. It's about the same distance as Latymer to Stevenage, but hopefully an even more scenic route!" His preparations have so far included Victoria Park and Royal Parks half marathons; the Victoria Line (southbound and northbound); Regent's/Hyde Park; Olympic Park and back via the canal; and a 20-mile Kingston Break-fest run by the Thames, past Hampton Court. If you would like to support Jim's endeavours, please donate at www.justgiving.com/page/jimharrisonsamaritans Why Samaritans? Many people find it hard to speak openly or ask for help, but talking can be life-saving – whether it's with a colleague, a family member, friend or a helpline like Samaritans. Every 10 seconds, Samaritans volunteers respond to a call for help. Samaritans are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to listen and support people with whatever they are facing, with no judgement. Jim already raised £12,000 back in 2018 when he climbed the Kilimanjaro. Well done Jim for raising so much for a good cause and best of luck for the marathon! ![]() Jim in his 'day job', 400th anniversary concert |
